final evaluation

Final Evaluation
During this Project I completed five photoshoots within:
·         Lister Park
·         Indoors in my home
·         Gardens in Bradford three area
I enjoyed this project because it allowed me to be more independent and free to choose the genre that I preferred to explore. Throughout the project my ideas and plans changed, during the first few weeks of the project I was determined to explore images related to Abstract of wood and nature, but after my first shoot I came to realise that I did not enjoy the theme, so I decided to change my entire project to still Life of flowers.
Still life of flowers was very interesting because I had the chance to work with vibrant colour tones and textures; most of my images contained the following effects.
·         Vibrant colour tones
·         Smooth and rough textures
·         Peculiar shapes
I also used camera and Photoshop effects such as:
·         Depth of field
·         Colour popping
·         Rule of thirds
·         High angle
·         Low angle
·         Worms’ eye
First shoot – My first shoot was experimental I wanted to see if I could capture the texture within abstract images of wood and nature including objects such as, leaves, wood and flowers.  Unfortunately I was disappointed with my results because I found it difficult to get the right composition and detail when shooting close up shots.
Second photoshoot – After changing my Project theme I decided to experiment with still life images of flowers, I carried out a photo-shoot within my home using a makeshift studio background using a cardboard box lined with plain white paper. I used a bouquet containing images of roses, tulips and blue bells.  My images were very interesting because I used rule of thirds depth of field and different angles.  I realised that my images were very eye catching because of the vibrant colour tones.

Third, fourth and fifth Photoshoot-  when shooting my final images I used colour and black and white film along with a digital camera, for my location I chose Lister Park within Bradford because it contains exotic flowers and a botanical garden,

Final Images Evaluation

I used a colour popping effect in Photoshop because I wanted to create a theme which would work well with my digital images. Colour Popping allows users to create eye catching and striking images, it allows viewers to feel the vibrant colours within certain objects.

This image is very beautiful because it contains bold lines which originate in the centre and flow out to every corner of the frame, this guides viewers through every part of the image. The contrast is also very eye catching the vibrant colours contain a rich and warm feel while the centre contains a cold and lifeless vibe this is not only a contrast in colour but also a difference in perception.

This image is interesting because it contains a pale and cool vibe, the colours make the image feel calming and soothing. The shapes of the petals gives the image a geometric effect, I also enjoy the consistency of the leaves it creates a pattern effect throughout the image.

this image inspired me through its use of depth, the flower looks like it is placed at a far distance away from objects at the from of the lenses. Rule of Thirds works well within this image because the main feature is placed directly in the centre of the frame.

This image works well with colour popping because the rose contains a vibrant pink colour which conflicts against the black and white background, it looks like it was cropped into the image. The rose contains a soft texture you can almost feel the smooth petals.

Photo-shoot 4 evaluation

This photograph caught my attention because it contains a shallow depth of field, this camera technique allows viewers to focus all their attention on the stunning flowers, the overall colour theme perfectly represents nature and it also harmonises to create a calm and tranquil image. The texture is also clearly visible on the twig and flow this creates a nice texture throughout the frame furthermore it also adds detail which some viewer may find interesting.

While I was finding interesting objects to shoot I came across this leaf on the floor, the reason I shot the image is because I enjoyed the red colour fiery colour against the grass, it creates a conflicting image, when you look at this image from a distance it catches your attention. Moreover I also the pattern effect on the leaf it is unique because it contains light and dark tones of red.

The lines within this image are placed perfectly to guide viewers through the centre of the image. The unique aspect of the lines Is that it originates from one point to other parts of the image. The oval shaped berries contain contrasting colours tones which is very eye catching, along with the constituency it adds a pattern effect. The spikes and smooth surface of the berries creates a conflict between textures.

This image caught my attention because of the lines, the consistent patterns of lines makes the image look three dimensional, the green colour theme creates a harmonizing image. Furthermore the detail in the texture and shape of objects within the image give the viewer an insight into the touch and feel of the plant.

When shooting this image I was trying to focus on the flower within the background, but I made mistake and which resulted in objects closer to the lens being in focus, but I think this effect has created a distorted shapes within the background, it invited viewers to take a closer look to try make out what the object is. The overall aesthetic theme of the image is very inviting and different.

Photo-shoot 3 evaluation

This image inspired me through its use of consistent flowery patterns, the consistency makes the image symmetrical, the distortion effect also makes viewers focus their attention on the centre of the frame it pulls them into the centre. The stems also create leading lines which guide the viewers and add a pattern effect throughout the image.

The the feature which attracted me to capture this image is the texture, I can feel the rough and coarse texture of the bark and then there is the smooth and soft texture of the flowers this creates a conflict between textures within this image. The lines and grooves within the bark also add a pattern effect .moreover the folding shape of the tree trunk makes the image look three dimensional.

I shot this image because it contains a wide range of earthy colours and features, it reminds viewers of a perfect summers day you can imagine yourself within the image. This image helps people relax and gather their thoughts. The bridge is the focal point of the image because it grabs the viewers attention it also allows viewers to imagine their self standing on it like a platform.

I shot this image because it contains a very peculiar effect, the flower contains a perfect sphere shape containing a very eye catching pattern, the flower contains petals which look like fibres from a piece of fabric. The shallow depth of field allows viewers to focus all their attention on the focal point of the image without having any unnecessary objects within the frame, this makes it time efficient for photographers because it there is no need to crop out parts of an image.
