Final evaluation
During this project I complete five main photo-shoots which
are:
- · Reflections
- · Creative bulb
- · Still life
- · Colour
- · Black and white
- · Reflections
I enjoyed this project t because it contained a wide range
of themes to explore it also furthered my knowledge on darkroom printing. The
most enjoyable experience was in the colour darkroom because it is based on
trial and error you have to be very patient.
The two photo-shoots which were based on my final images are
black and white and colour film images of glass.
When planning for the black and white photo-shoot I wanted
to capture something which imitates glass, so I chose to capture objects like reflective
metals and ice. I chose to capture these objects because plays on the viewer’s
mind.
During the colour photo-shoot, I shot high angle and landscape
shots through a light bulb and of old Victorian styles buildings. This shoot
went well because I was able to find a wide range of old Victorian styles buildings
and mills within Bradford city centre.
I also enjoyed the creative bulb task because it encouraged me
to explore creative ideas and designs. My favourite set of images was of a live
fire against a light bulb with a slow shutter speed, this allowed me to capture
beautiful shapes and colours of flames and I was also able to edit the image in
Photoshop which gain allowed me to pay around with vibrant colours, this made
the fire look eye catching and striking.
During my photo-shoot I used a wide range of techniques including:
- · Low angle
- · Spot Metering
- · High angle
- · Bird’s eye view
- · Depth of field
- · Centre weighted average
- · Contrasting colours
- · Leading lines
- · Rule of thirds
- · Slow shutter speed
The photographer who influenced my project was Simon
Bruntell, I admire his style and creativity for example the way he uses
texture, he clearly presents rough and grainy textures to allow viewers to get
a feel of his images it helps the viewer imagine themselves within the image. This
technique makes an over image stimulating and popular.
Working with glass is very creative because there are no
limitations. Everything in this day and age contains glass from mirrors to
mobile phone so you have many objects to explore.
Furthermore I also enjoyed capturing stained glass windows because
it tells a story there is history within the painting, stained glass windows
are mainly associated with religious buildings because the artist may have
wanted future generations to be inspired by his/her art.
