Unit 29 fashion and Location
Calverley Woods
For my first idea I have decided to capture still
life images of watches in a natural environment, the most suitable location is a woodland
located in Leeds. It contains many attractions such as rivers, tree stumps,
fallen leaves, ponds and flowers.
Centenary square
My second shoot will be carried out in Centenary Square
Bradford, it is a perfect location for urban images because it contains man-made
water features this would be great when comparing to a river image from my
first shoot. Other subjects are statues, mosaics and patterns, gates and
railings.
I have chosen to shoot Formal and smart watches against a natural
environment to create a conflict between subject and background, and if this
shoot goes well I will choose to shoot within Bradford city centre this will
allow me to compare urban and natural environments.
I could use tree stumps as a stand to capture high angle because
it is at an elevated surface I would be able to get underneath the subject. I could
also create distorted circles when shooting upwards towards the sky. High angle
would also allow me to play with people’s minds by changing the scale for
example if I was to shoot a close up of a watch beside a tree the watch would
look larger this will make an interesting image.
Shadows will add detail and it could also create dark tones
this will allow me to avoid reflections that would ruin my images. Furthermore shadows
can add lines and patterns to guide and attract the viewer.
Urban locations contain many colours and materials I can create
strong contrasts for example I have a silver watch with a black dial if I place
it against a black surface it would create a strong contrast between the silver
and a harmonious effect due to the black dial and background.
My Aesthetic theme will allow viewers to contemplate and
discuss which images they prefer and why this will create opinions that I will
be able to use to improve to any projects I may have in the future.
