Task 2

Task 2 - Mannequin
This image was aimed at emphasising a pose so I decided to use a portrait format which is useful when capturing tall subjects. The subject is looking directly at the camera I used this technique because it pulls the viewer into the image it makes them focus more on the subject, the brickwork on the bottom half of the image creates a flowing effect this is great for adding detail to an image it also creates leading lines look at the wave effect which is created by the grass. Furthermore the pose is striking it makes you think on what the subject is trying to say what message is she trying to get across? The colours are natural and Earthy this makes the viewer feel relaxed.

The main factor within this image is leading lines, I chose this setting because it contained patterns, I specifically placed the subject at the curve where the two lines meet this creates a Geometric shape pointing towards the subject. I also used rule of thirds I placed the subject within the middle of the image to make her the focal point and the first area of the image the viewer will look towards also when they look at the other areas of the image they will be guided back towards her by the leading lines. I used a landscape format to make space for the rectangular paving stones which add warm colours and patterns that resemble a mosaic.

Throught this image the main compositional technique is high depth of field, I used high depth of field to capture the detail within the background, and the position was perfect, a landscape format allowed me to fit all the buildings within the frame. I shot the image at eye level this makes the viewer feel relaxed. Natural light has also created a dull and miserable environment this colour tone makes Mary Jane look as though she has been cropped into the image because her clothing creates a contrast between warm and cold colours. Furthermore leading lines can be seen cutting across the bottom half of the image this sections off the objects which are closest to the camera from the background.

The main compositional technique in this image is shallow depth of field, depth of field adds more emphasis on the focal point of an image, here you can see Kelsey is the focal point so I blurred the background to remove any distractions, there is not a lot of detail within this image so the viewer is forced to analyse the subject look at her eye she is not looking at the camera it looks like she is thinking about something. There is also a strong contrast between the background and the subject’s hair this emphasises and brings more attention to the image, her hair has a beautiful wave this gives the image a flowing effect. The lighting within the image was created by natural light, during the photo-shoot the weather conditions were cloudy this lack of bright light has given Kelsey a realistic look compared to artificial light which would give her a golden glow.

The compositional aspect I used for this image is low angle because the area I was shooting in was perfect, I could make the subject look larger than she really is and the building on the left adds more emphasis on scale, Umera was wearing black clothing I used this to my advantage to create a strong contrast the natural light is very bright and makes the subject more eye catching. Furthermore the steps and pole add lines within the image this could be useful when directing the viewers’ attention you can see the pole is pointing directly at the subject in a rigid manner. Texture is another important factor the steps contain a rough and cold feel the moss makes the surface look harsh.
