Research equipment and Techniques

Research on Equipment and Techniques used or could use

·        Reflective surfaces
Jewellery is made to be eye catching and reflective so when the bracelet I used was paced in direct sunlight the reflection would create a glow effect this is great when, I want to create an eye catching image but sometimes it can overwhelm the viewer. To solve this problem I simply had to cover the bracelet with a piece cardboard without creating shadows.

·        Depth of field
Wide angle lenses are used to create a high depth of field they are useful when photographing landscapes and architecture.
I could experiment with scale, when using a wide angle lenses object in the foreground will appear much larger than in reality and any object in the background will appear much smaller, this effect will be great when shooting close ups of my watches.
Distortion can also be created especially when capturing lines because wide angle lenses take in a much wider view they can create curvaceous lines.

·        Tripod
I may want to use a long shutter speed to capture the flowing water from a river, this will allow me to create a blur effect but for this effect to work I will need to use a tripod to make sure there is no camera shake to ensure that my subject will remain in sharp focus.

·        Long lenses (Macro)
Macro lenses are great when capturing small details; I could use it to capture the moving parts within a skeleton watch. Long lenses are also good when capturing a shallow depth of field with a wide aperture.

·        Fish Eye

Fish eye lenses are wider than the normal wide lenses which are 16mm; this kind of lenses is made specifically for distortion. I might want to bend the circular shape of my watch to create a stretched effect.
