Photo-shoot Plan
Theme – Asian Deserts
Subjects – Kulfi ice cream and Sweets
Location and time of day
The photo-shoot will take place indoors within my home; I
have created a makeshift studio in my bedroom. I will be using natural light so
I must ensure that I shoot my images during day time hours between 11am to 4pm.
I created the studio using a large card board box; I lined
it with white printing paper to give my images a white background.
Design ideas
I plan to positon my subjects onto a load of cutlery within
a white background, the cutlery will reflect a catering theme it may also
create leading lines and reflective effects. I will also use desert sauces to
create patterns such as: spiral, curvasause, rigid and rectangular. I will use
spot metering because it is best suited to still life shots, depth of field could be useful to blur any un-necessary areas furthermore I will use rule of
thirds to ensure that my subjects are within the correct position.
Equipment
Canon E0S 450D
EFS – 18 – 55mm lens
ISO – 100 – 1600
Aperture F4 –F22
Goals and plans for implementation
I aim to capture Asian deserts within a studio setting using
Natural and artificial Lighting, I will also create patterns using desert
sauces to add leading lines. I will position my ice cream within a coconut
shell this will create contrasting colours. Furthermore I will lay out cutlery
over the surface to add reflective effects.
Lighting
I will use natural and artificial light to capture my images
within a white background; artificial light may allow me to create an eye
catching reflective effect. Both lighting conditions will allow me to add shadows
which can make an image detailed and interesting. Moreover artificial light
will bring out the colour in my subjects it will brighten the overall colour
throughout my images.
Compositional techniques
Depth of field
I will use depth of field when capturing close up shots for
example I created ice cream roses, I could capture a close up of the rose and
blue the background this will add more emphasis on the rose.
Harmonising colours
The main compositional technique that inspired me is
harmonising colours within Gareth Morgans Portfolio; I aim to recreate that
effect with yellow, green, white and red colours .E.g. I will place a red ice cream
scoop, sauce, jelly and sweets within the same frame.
Patterns
I could also create spiral effects with ice cream sauce or I
could create lines with a fork by grazing the surface of my subjects, Gareth
Morgans has used leading lines within his images to create patterns.
Subjects
I will create my own ice cream; I must cook 2 days prior to the shoot to ensure the ice cream will be ready, to create red, yellow and
green colours I will use food dye instead of buying four different flavours
which will cost me more money.
Additionally for the floral and heart shapes I will use a mould which
comes in a variety of sizes.
