Second Photoshoot Plan Unit - 8

Second Photo-shoot plan
Aesthetic theme
I will carry out a second Photo-shoot to create a comparison between commercial ice cream brands compared to homemade ice cream; this will also include a comparison between cultures European compared to Asian. The reason for this shoot is to increase the overall Aesthetic theme of my project I aim to create a biased poster for my homemade ice cream. I will focus on:

  • ·         Colour
  • ·         Texture
  • ·         Detail
  • ·         Taste
  • ·         Pattern
  • ·         Contrast

 Design ideas

During my first shoot I used the inside of a card board box and lined it with blank printing paper but to improve the lighting I will curve the paper making sure I do not take the shape of the box this will improve the shades of light hitting the background creating a more balanced image. I will also use the packaging that comes with the ice cream for example it may come in a pot I will use this to show the viewer the types of persuasive language, bright colours and patterns used to encourage them to buy from supermarket retailers. Furthermore during my first shoot I used complementary colours for this shoot I will create conflicting and contrasting colours.

Commercial Ice Cream brands

  • ·         Haagen-Dazs
  • ·         Ben and Jerry’s
  • ·         Carte d’or

Equipment

  • ·         Canon E0S 450D
  • ·         EFS – 18 – 55mm lens
  • ·         ISO – 100 – 1600
  • ·         Aperture F4 –F22

Implementation

If I use the packaging the ice cream came in I must ensure that I place it within the centre of the frame this will allow me to place objects related to my theme around the focal point. To create curvaceous shapes I will use an ice cream scooper, to add contrasting colour I will combine different ice creams or food related deserts like sauce and cake.

Lighting

I will use natural light however if the weather conditions are cloudy I may have to use Artificial light, I aim to create a balanced image with no dark colour tones or shadows.
Compositional techniques
Rule of thirds Golden section
To ensure my subjects are placed within an area that they are naturally drawn towards
Contrasting colours
This is the main aspect of my second shoot; I will use contrasting colours to differentiate the two photo-shoots.
Leading lines
I will create a pattern effect using desert sauces this will also guide the viewer to the chosen areas of my image.
