task 2a Evaluating Location shoot

Evaluating location images

I also went on location to find contemporary and historic backgrounds that I may use in my Godfather shoot, most of the images required me to use flash because I was photographing during the evening and the weather was dull, this background caught my attention because it is very contemporary and exquisite, the contrast between the silver and black is eye catching, the faded out writing gives off an old and warn outlook.  The lines on the gate create leading lines and a pattern effect which guides the viewer from the top half of the image to the bottom. The model is wearing dark clothing which harmonises with the background this creates a soft feel throughout the image.

This image was shot within a tunnel; the dark stains split the image into two sections the top half is light as you go down it gradually turns darker this has created leading lines and a pattern effect. The graffiti is barely visible this persuades the viewer to take a closer look it also adds a contemporary feel to the image; her jacket is a khaki colour which blends in with the background. A high ISO was required because the light within the tunnel was dark, the dark shadows on some of the edges creates a frame effect around the subject.  The model is looking away from the camera it makes the viewer think on what she could be looking at; this retains the viewers’ attention.

I shot this location twice but this time round I placed the a different model in the corner of the frame this emphasis the true scale of the gate, during the first image I created a harmonising image by pacing a model with dark coloured clothes against the gate but in this image there is a big different in contrast the model is conflicting with the background this makes the image not only eye catching but it adds to the aesthetic theme it makes the viewer think on why she is standing their? Who is she? This makes the image more memorable.  Furthermore the texture on the gate is noticeable the rust has a coarse and rough feel.

This location caught my attention because it contains an outstanding example of linear lines look at the base of the image the yellow lines and footpath lead through the middle of the image and then fade away. The model is leaning against the wall the pose is dynamic especially the legs, the green moss on the walls creates a frame effect, the reflection from the camera flash is very strong on the objects nearest to the frame but gradually becomes weaker this has created different colour tones,  the clothing worn by the model gives the viewer a sense of what it is like within the image some of the thoughts that come to mind are winter, dark and cold this technique makes it easier for artists to communicate with viewers.

This location was interesting because it resembles a Word War II bomb-site, the historic buildings resemble a village during the 1930s and the demolished building looks like it was destroyed during a bombing raid. The high depth of field contains a lot of detail which some viewers may find interesting, the footpath and drain pipe contain leading lines this is good because it guides the viewer through the image for example the drain pipe directs me from the bottom of the building to the top this exposes all the small details that some viewers may overlook. The brick work resembles a jigsaw this pattern effect creates detail.  Furthermore the Ariel perspective is visible you can see the mist covering some of the roof tops.
