While creating my first mock editorial piece, I decided to
add a Diptych styled layout. This layout
is common within most magazines, I was able to gather information from a wide
variety of sources including websites and magazines, which are used for
reviewing and advertising films. Both
sides of this piece is sized at A4, this will allow me to add a large font
size, which in turn will make it easier for people with eye sight problems to
read. The contrast of the text is strong, the black background combined with
the red and white colour of the text creates an eye catching effect. The main
heading and subheading harmonise with the background, this technique makes the
overall vibe feel calm and tranquil. The film (The Godfather) is known for its
violent scenes, the red text colour represents the emotions and content of this
film. The text size is clear to see without having to look closely at the
article this retains the viewer’s attention.
I have opted for a portrait layout, I believe this works
well with portrait images. The main advantage of using a black background is
the contrast, when using a vibrant text colour on a black Background it creates
an attention grabbing effect. Moreover image is also perfect for using on a
black background because the black shadow on the image blends in with the
background. The font style of the heading and subheading reflects a historic
style, which is perfect for advertising the (The Godfather).
Copy right law – gives the creator of a piece of Literary,
Dramatic, Musical and Film piece of work the authority to control who may use
their work and ways in which it may be used. In many cases the creator will ask
to be referenced as the author. Restricted acts include not asking for consent
before copying a piece of work, But in my case, I am permitted to use the image
for educational use. Failure to comply could result in a Law suit and fine.
The aspect of this image, which I think does not work well
is the text colour, it is not clearly visible on a dark background, to improve
the visibility of the text I should change the text colour
