Genre – Abstract
The concept which attracts me towards abstract photography is the starting point, Abstract art can be created by one design or idea and multiplied to create sophisticated images. It can be created using everyday objects such as aluminium cans, water, fabric or glass. It opens up a new world which we do not notice,
Ryan Bush is an American Abstract Photographer who influenced me to research abstract art, because he uses everyday objects multiplied to create abstract images. He used subject which are not appealing or eye catching and turns them into unique pieces of art.
This image by Ryan Bush displays a tree branch at a high angle, observe the way he makes it look appealing he multiplies that one tree branch to create a group of branches which looks very eye catching due to the contrast.
Cindy Sherman is also very appealing because she creates abstract optical art using shapes, most of her images are black and white, and I believe this method gives her images a striking contrast.
The consistency within this image is attractive, the black and white colour creates a striking image, and the lines create leading lines which guide you horizontally through the image. It pulls you in and retains your attention for a while, mentally it helps stimulates thought.
Experimental Abstract Images
This image caught my attention because it contains extremely vibrant colours, the colours within the image are striking and eye catching. Leading lines are created by folds within the wrapping, furthermore the fold and scuffs makes the image look three dimensional. The edges of the image contain a bright colour tone and then converge into the centre to create a darker tone this creates a contrasting image.
This image inspired me through its use of lines, the right hand side contains a dark shadow which pulls you into the image and the horizontal line guides you through the centre of the image. The colours are earthy and naturalistic this creates a harmonising image which makes the viewer feel relaxed.
The main feature within this image is the contrast it has two opposing sides which make it attention grabbing. It contains rigid and bold lines which guide the viewer through the image, the lines also make the image look three dimensional in places. The colours is pale this makes the image look muted in appearance but it creates a harmonising theme.
